What is a hair topper?

A hair topper is a lightweight hairpiece designed to add volume, density, or coverage to specific areas of the scalp. It blends seamlessly with your own hair to create a fuller, natural-looking appearance.

Who is a topper suitable for?

Hair toppers are ideal for anyone experiencing thinning hair, hair loss, reduced volume, or simply wanting extra fullness. They can also be worn as a cosmetic enhancement for special occasions or everyday confidence.

How do I choose the right colour?

For exact match choose the colour that most closely matches the mid-lengths and ends of your own hair rather than the roots.

Does my own hair colour need to match my topper exactly?

Not at all! Your own hair doesn’t need to be an exact colour match to your topper. In fact, allowing some of your natural hair to blend with the topper can create an even more natural, dimensional result.

This works especially well when your own hair is around the same length as the topper. You can gently blend some of your own hair through the topper, allowing the different tones to melt together rather than looking like two separate colours.

Choosing blonde shades

If you’re looking for a natural blonde result, we usually recommend choosing a slightly darker blonde, a dimensional blonde, or a blonde with a darker root. Natural hair rarely consists of one perfectly even blonde shade, so having a little depth at the roots often makes the topper look much more realistic.

If your own hair is platinum or already very light blonde, however, you can absolutely go for those beautiful, really light blonde shades — fire away! 

And remember: a little variation in colour is completely okay. Your topper doesn’t have to match every strand of your own hair to blend beautifully.

How do I choose the correct cap size?

Measure the area you wish to cover on your scalp and choose a base size that fully covers that area while allowing the clips to attach securely to your natural hair.

Can I curl or straighten my topper?

Yes. Our toppers are made from 100% human hair and can be curled, straightened, blow-dried, and styled just like your own hair.

Always use a heat protectant and avoid excessive heat to maximise the lifespan of your topper.

Can I dye my topper?

Our human hair toppers can be professionally toned or darkened if needed.

We do not recommend bleaching or significantly lightening the hair, as this may affect the quality and longevity of the topper.

How long will my topper last?

With proper care and regular maintenance, your topper can last approximately 12 months or longer with continuous wear.

The lifespan depends on how often it is worn, how frequently it is heat styled, and how well it is cared for.

How often should I wash my topper?

Wash your topper approximately every 10–20 wears, or whenever you notice product buildup or the hair begins to feel heavy.

Overwashing can shorten the lifespan of the hair.

Can I sleep in my topper?

We recommend removing your topper before sleeping to reduce friction, tangling, and unnecessary wear.

Can I swim while wearing my topper?

We recommend removing your topper before swimming in chlorinated pools or saltwater, as both can dry out the hair and reduce its lifespan.

Is the topper secure?

Yes. Depending on capsize our toppers feature 2–8 pressure-sensitive clips that provide a comfortable, secure fit throughout the day.

Will people notice I’m wearing a topper?

When correctly fitted and colour matched, a high-quality human hair topper blends naturally with your own hair and is designed to be virtually undetectable.

Can I return my topper?

Every Valkyrian Hair topper is made especially for you. We don’t mass-produce or keep large quantities of ready-made pieces in stock — your topper enters production because you chose it.

We believe in thoughtful, responsible production rather than fast fashion. For this reason, we kindly ask you to take a little extra care when choosing your topper, particularly the colour, length and other options, before placing your order.

Due to hygiene reasons, we can only accept returns on products that are unused, unworn, and in their original unopened packaging.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes. 

All orders within the European Union are shipped without customs charges. Production time for our custom-made pieces is typically 6–8 weeks before dispatch. When your product is ready, it will be shipped from Finland.

Do you offer colour matching?

Yes! We’d love to help you find your perfect match. You'd be surprised how many colour variations can blend in to your own hair so getting the exact match is not the only way to go about it. 

Simply send us clear photos of your hair taken in natural daylight, and we’ll recommend the closest colour for your topper.
